Cambium excels in Tolly Benchmark Test
A new benchmark test report released by The Tolly Group shows that Cambium’s WiFi 6 access points – the tri-radio XV3-8 (8x8/4x4 MU-MIMO) with software defined radios and the XV2-2 (2x2 MU-MIMO) – excelled in terms of performance and a five-year total cost of ownership (TCO). Cambium’s XV-series access points combine technology from Cambium and Xirrus, which Cambium acquired in August 2019.

A few findings from the Tolly report include:
- XV3-8 delivered an average of 2.4 x the price-performance of competitors.
- XV3-8 had an average 38% lower TCO than competitors.
- XV3-8 delivered an average of 47% higher bidirectional throughput in tri-radio mode than competitors.
- XV2-2 delivered an average of 2 x the price-performance of competitors.
- XV2-2 had TCO of between 33% and 49% lower than competitors.
- XV2-2 outperformed competitors in bidirectional and downstream throughput.
XV2-2 dual-radio WiFi 6 access point
The XV2-2 is a dual-radio WiFi 6 access point (AP) designed to deliver next-generation networks with edge services at a value-based price. WiFi 6 technology delivers higher network speeds and enables more connected devices at higher packet quality. WiFi 6 brings a deterministic model to the radio frequency (RF) layer where the AP controls the client connections, including when to sleep, when to wake and how to transmit and receive packets. The XV2-2 is fully backward compatible with existing WiFi technology and enables a massive growth of low power, low bitrate IOT devices to add infrastructure intelligence into any market.
XV3-8 WiFi 6 access point
High-density architecture reduces the equipment required while leveraging automation to deliver SLA. XV3-8 includes seamless roaming, fast roaming, automatic RF optimisation and interference avoidance to automatically optimise performance to specific local needs. This software-defined 8×8 multi-radio AP is equipped with dedicated scanning radio and BLE, WPA3 secure public access, application control and 802.3bz Ethernet optimised for high-density deployments.
The XV3-8 features a total of five radios to deliver a next-generation network with edge services with high capacity and high density. Three data radios can be configured as two 5GHz 4x4 plus one 2.4GHz 4x4, or the two 5GHz radios can be combined into a single 5GHz 8x8 radio with the maximum power and performance of the 802.11ax standard. A dedicated network scanning radio provides continuous network monitoring to enhance security protocols, detailed network reports and automatic RF optimisations.
Both the XV2-2 and XV3-8 continue the enterprise network convergence with edge-intelligent AP managed by application-intelligent Cambium Networks XMS or cnMaestro management system.
